Romberg Tiburon Center (SFSU) The Romberg Tiburon Center is San Francisco State University's marine and estuarine field station located 30 minutes north of San Francisco on the Tiburon Peninsula of San Francisco Bay. The Center's mission is to perform basic scientific research and educate and train the next generation of scientists. Topics of scientific research and education span the spectrum of marine and estuarine ecology including physical, chemical and biological sciences. RTC scientists pursue their research in their laboratories at the Center, at field sites around the world, and through collaborations with colleagues at other universities and institutions. As an affiliate of San Francisco State University, the Center provides its students with graduate and undergraduate level courses as well as practical experience gained through research conducted in the laboratories of RTC scientists. The Center employs 24 professors and research scientists, 24 research technicians, 9 post-doctoral fellows, 37 graduate students, and 12 administrative staff. Through its affiliation with the San Francisco Bay-Delta Science Consortium the Center intends to further expand and improve upon the quantity and quality of Bay Area research and education. |
