PRBO Conservation Science UPDATE: PRBO is Moving! PRBO Conservation Science is moving to its new SF Bay Research Center and Headquarters! Effective May 1, 2006, our new address and phone number will be: PRBO Conservation Science Situated adjacent to 500 acres of protected wetlands and uplands at the northern reaches of SF Bay at Shollenberger Park, we are thrilled to be moving into a world-class research center. With a cutting-edge communications infrastructure, WiFi, wet lab, library, presentation room, visitor displays, and workspace to grow, we are poised to address the urgent conservation challenges of our time in partnership with many of you. PRBO Conservation Science (founded in 1965 as Point Reyes Bird Observatory) is a non-profit, membership organization dedicated to conserving birds, other wildlife and their ecosystems through innovative scientific research and outreach. Birds are excellent indicators of environmental function, thus key to wise stewardship. Working throughout the West, our 55 staff scientists and more than 50 seasonal biologists study birds and ecosystems to protect and enhance biodiversity. PRBO staff:
PRBO is an active leader in several national and international partnerships working to protect birds and ecosystems including Partners in Flight, U.S. Shorebird Conservation Plan, North American Waterbird Conservation Plan, Pacific Seabird Group, North American Waterfowl Management Plan Joint Ventures (SF Bay and Central Valley), and the Riparian Habitat Joint Venture. PRBO was honored with the national "Conservation Partner Award" from the USDA Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management in April, 2002.
