United States Fish and Wildlife Service

The Stockton Fish and Wildlife Office is a field station of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service located 50 miles south of Sacramento, near the Delta of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers. The station employs 22 fisheries biologists, 16 biological science technicians, 4 small craft operators and 8 administrative staff. The station emphasizes programs and projects to monitor, research, restore and protect the aquatic resources of the region. The vision of the station is to be an organization that:

  1. Is recognized for it's scientific leadership in
    • fisheries monitoring and research
    • anadromous fish restoration
    • and management of nonnative invasive species
in the Bay-Delta and Central Valley, promoting a self-sustaining ecosystem that is favorable to native species.

  2. Fosters and values strong, productive collaborations and teamwork with the public, stakeholders, peers and cooperators to achieve it's objectives.

  3. Demonstrates work excellence governed by honesty and integrity.

Through affiliation with the San Francisco Estuary Interagency Ecological Program, the CALFED Program, and now the San Francisco Bay-Delta Science Consortium, the station intends to enhance its ability to achieve this vision.
